Charlie Turner Owner of the Waterloo House Tearooms and Antiques
"I believe I have always had a passion for History, growing up in the Kentish Countryside it was impossible to ignore the quirks of small towns and the grandeur of hidden Castles, how steeped in History Kent truly is.
At 18 I started my studies for 4 years in History of Art with Antiquity/English Literature, in Wales, before taking over the Waterloo House Tearooms in 2016 with the help and support from my family.
Throughout these four years I worked in many positions in catering for a hotel in Aberystwyth, finishing up as receptionist managing the general affairs for the Hotel.
Working while studying allowed me to gain experience in day to day runnings of a long standing hospitality business, while completing my B.A.s. From here I looked back to Kent to start my venture.
Dave Woodham Dealer
Dave had worked in in haulage industry all his working life and when he retired needed a hobby to keep his mind occupied. He started buying Antiques and collectables, initially dealing in an already growing vintage dinky lorry collection and train memorabilia. Soon what started as a hobby turned into a business.
Through the contacts he has gained, he now deals in furniture and other commodities. When Waterloo House Tearooms decided to diversify into the world of Antique and Collectables, as Charlie’s Grandad, he helped establish the basic workings of the business, to be built upon as the business expanded.
